Outreach

Stop Modern Day Slavery is committed to taking action against human trafficking in addition to raising awareness through our online articles. Our numerous community outreach initiatives allow us to connect with survivors in need of assistance. We work one-on-one with survivors to identify and meet their needs. Our outreach also includes educational endeavors, such as providing free classes on human trafficking to middle and high school students. Below, you will find information on some of our largest outreach programs.

Classes on Human Trafficking:

At Stop Modern Day Slavery, we believe education is the key to ending human trafficking once and for all. We have taught a number of classes on human trafficking free of charge to high school and middle school students. Covering topics from the signs of human trafficking to prevention models, our classes leave students with a more in-depth understanding of modern day slavery.

GED Assistance and Study Kit:

Many survivors of human trafficking are unable to complete high school due to the abuse and exploitation they are forced to endure. As education is a critical part of Stop Modern Day Slavery’s mission, we give back by offering GED assistance and GED study kits to survivors. We also work to pair survivors with experienced tutors to provide complementary, one-to-one tutoring sessions.

Branding Tattoo Removal:

Many traffickers “brand” their victims with tattoos to signify their status as property. This leaves survivors of human trafficking with a constant reminder of the trauma they experienced and can hinder their ability to heal. Moreover, these tattoos can often interfere with survivors’ ability to gain employment, trapping survivors in a vicious cycle of abuse and exploitation. Stop Modern Day Slavery has organized for survivors to have their branding tattoos covered up free of charge.
